Biography

I am a proud high school graduate from right here in Carroll County.  I had a wonderful educational experience in the county and hope to return that to my students at Central!  After high school I went to the University of Georgia and majored in Foreign Language Education and Spanish.  GO DAWGS!

I have taught at 3 high schools in my 14 year career, but have found my home at Central. This year marks my 10th year at CHS.  I have also taught on just about every teaching schedule a school can offer.  I teach Spanish I and II this year and also sponsor the Spanish Honor Society.

I like to say that I didn't really "choose" to become a teacher, but rather it chose me.  I grew up spending countless hours in my own mother's classroom after school, pretending it was my own.  I would play school, had pretend students, and gave pretend assignments.  I even pretend disciplined!  Teaching is in my blood and I hope all of my students can walk away saying, "She really loves what she does!"  My ultimate goal is to open my students' minds and worlds by exposing them to things they would never otherwise experience.  We speak Spanish often and are very active in class.  I love what I do!

I have two wonderful children, Greyson (10) and Emery Kate (8).  Greyson is in 4th grade this year and Emery Kate is in 2nd.

International Travel with Central High School

For the past few years, I have had the amazing opportunity to travel internationally with students from our Spanish classes. In 2018, I lead a group of 21 students and parents to South America where we spent nine days traveling Peru. From the capital city of Lima to the Andes region of Cusco and on to Machu Picchu, we had an experience of a lifetime. I felt incredibly privileged to be able to open up a world of possibilities for students of our school.

In 2019, I lead a group of 45 students from our school to Costa Rica. In nine short days, we were able to spend a beautiful day on the Pacific Coast swimming in the ocean, go zip lining through the cloud forest (in quite the monsoon), swim in hot springs, and kayak in an amazing lake at the base of Arenal Volcano.

In 2022, we were able to get back to international travel after a brief pause due to COVID. In February, we were able to experience Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands in a once-in-a-lifetime trip. We swam with sea turtles and sea lions and saw the giant tortoises up close. In June, we headed back to Peru with a new group and had the most magical trip through the Andes Mountains.

Contact me if you are interested in traveling with us to Costa Rica in the summer of 2023!
