Hi! My name is John Thompson, and I have been teaching mathematics and computer science here at Central High since 2019.  I firmly believe that mathematical and computational thinking practices hold the keys to empowering students in our increasingly technological society, and that they are an essential foundation for those who seek the frontiers of technological advancement. 

Before teaching, I worked as an IT professional.  Much of my time was spent training people how to use new technologies and how to adapt their business practices to leverage that technology.  It's fair to say that I grew enamoured with helping people achieve little technological "Eureka!" moments.  In time, I rediscovered my childhood passion for all things math related, and it wasn't too long before I had a "Eureka!" moment of my own, and decided to pursue a teaching career.

I am married to my enchantingly beautiful wife, Summer, and blessed with the most wonderful daughter imaginable, Kaylee.  We love to go camping and exploring nature, hanging out on Florida beaches, and there's a decent chance of finding us at Disney whether on land or sea.
